On 28 November 2024, Ella Maillart was posthumously made an honorary member of the Cercle de la Voile de la Société Nautique de Genève. Her life as an sportswoman, adventurer and writer continues to inspire, not least thanks to her participation as an athlete in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, where she was the first women to skipper a sailing boat in Olympic competition. Her posthumous appointment as an honorary member of the prestigious Cercle de la Voile de la SNG underlines her influence on the world culture, literature and sport.
